Upload Files

Bring your files in, once.

Import a set of files or a whole folder into your vault and memory in a single pass. 1Presence reads them, files them at their original paths, and remembers what matters — a snapshot taken the moment you import.

Import what you want kept. A snapshot, not a live link.

What happens when you upload

Pick a few files or a whole folder from your computer. 1Presence reads them right there in your browser and brings them into your vault — your private cloud space — keeping their original folder structure so everything lands where you would expect to find it. As it goes, it also files what matters into memory, so the contents are searchable later without re-reading anything.

This is a one-time import: a snapshot of those files as they were the moment you brought them in. Edit them on your computer afterwards and the changes do not flow back — the imported copy is now yours, living in the vault. If you would rather 1Presence read the latest version straight from your disk each time, Connect Folders does that instead, read-only and on demand.

How to upload

  1. Open 1Presence and go to Connectors.
  2. Choose "Upload Files," then pick individual files or a whole folder.
  3. Review the selection — 1Presence shows you what it found before anything is brought in.
  4. Import. Large selections come in steadily, in batches, so nothing stalls.

It works in any browser. Text notes, Markdown, PDFs, documents and spreadsheets, code, and structured files all come in; very large files and binaries 1Presence cannot read are skipped, and a single import is capped at a couple of thousand files so a stray selection never runs away with itself.

What it is good for

  • Bringing years of notes off your laptop and into a place 1Presence can search.
  • Loading a research folder once, so its contents are there to draw on in every future conversation.
  • Importing a set of PDFs or client decks you want kept and referenced, not just read once.
  • Seeding a fresh vault from an existing folder of writing or documentation.
  • "Bring in everything in this folder and tell me what is in there."

Upload, or connect?

Upload Files makes a copy: the files live in your vault and memory for good, searchable, yours to build on, and there whether or not your computer is. It is a snapshot — later edits on disk are not reflected.

Connect Folders makes no copy: 1Presence reads the folder on your disk on demand, always the current version, and nothing is stored. Reach for Connect Folders when the files keep changing and Upload Files when you want them kept.

Privacy

Uploaded files are read in your browser and brought into your own vault — your private space, the same one your notes and conversations live in. Nothing is shared, and you can delete anything you import from the vault at any time. Files 1Presence cannot read, and ones above the size limit, are simply skipped rather than stored.

A one-time import

Bring it in, keep it for good.

Import individual files or a whole folder into your vault and memory in one pass — filed at their original paths, searchable from then on, yours to build on. A snapshot taken at import, not a live link.
