Stop hunting through folders. Ask for the file by what it is.
The asks that get tedious
- "Where is the Acme proposal I wrote last summer?"
- "Pull up the latest version of the pricing sheet."
- "Find me the doc where we listed the Q3 priorities."
- "Read the brief and tell me what we promised."
- "Has anyone shared anything with me about the Meridian project?"
Google Drive is a great filing cabinet, and search there rewards remembering the file name. 1Presence searches across file names and the text inside your documents — so the proposal you remember as "the Acme one" comes back even if it is titled "Q3 strategy collab v3 final FINAL."
Reads Docs and Sheets in context
Once 1Presence finds the right file, it can read the contents. Google Docs come back as structured text. Sheets come back as tables it can reason about ("which clients have unpaid invoices?" against a billing sheet). PDFs are extracted. Slide decks have their text pulled out.
This makes Drive a first-class part of cross-tool synthesis — when 1Presence prepares a meeting brief, it pulls the relevant Drive docs alongside email and calendar, and weaves the whole picture together.
Your Drive folders, as pages in your vault
Once connected, Google Drive appears under Connected in your vault sidebar. Click a folder and it opens as a page — the path above it, the folders and files inside — and the search box on that page looks through everything underneath, by name and by contents. Press Sync on any Drive folder and it copies into your vault the same way a connected local folder does: one way, only when you ask, and only what changed. The sync guide covers where it goes and what happens when files meet.
Save anything into your vault
Found something worth keeping? Ask 1Presence to save it and the file comes across into your vault — a Doc as an editable document, a Sheet as a spreadsheet, a deck as a PDF — with a plain-text copy alongside, so it stays searchable and 1Presence can find it again later.
What about writing back to Drive
Connect with write access and 1Presence can create, copy, move, rename, trash and restore files in Drive when you ask — file a doc where it belongs, tidy a folder. Day to day, though, it writes into your vault by default — plain markdown is easier to keep tidy and easier to take with you. Which side holds the source of truth is up to you: keep working in Drive and let the vault be where 1Presence's own work accumulates, or move the centre of gravity into the vault and treat Drive as an archive.
Privacy and access
Authentication is through Google OAuth. As you connect you choose read-only, or write access across your Drive; with write access, deleting a file or overwriting one confirms with you every time. You can connect more than one Google account. The token is stored encrypted and revocable in one tap. Reading just happens; the first time an agent writes to your Drive it asks, you grant once, it remembers, and you can withdraw access any time from the Access tab.
The shift
The right file, at the right moment.
Search across your Drive by name, content and type; read Docs and Sheets in the conversation; and save anything worth keeping straight into your vault as plain markdown. The folder tree stops being something you navigate.
