How it works

The mechanics of this kit, plainly — what runs and when, where the data lands, and what you look at.

• Care sweep runs mondays · 7am and keeps the Your pets dashboard fresh. Mondays — reads the practice, the insurer and the pet pharmacy; files the costs; warns thirty days out.
• Care check runs monthly · the 1st, 8am. Monthly — one card per animal: what is due, which way the weight is going, anything noticed that has come back.
• What is captured lands in the Pets record, which lives at Data/Pets in your vault — yours to open, search, and edit like any other file.
• What is captured lands in the Care log record, which lives at Data/Pet Care Log in your vault — yours to open, search, and edit like any other file.
• What is captured lands in the Pet weights record, which lives at Data/Pet Weights in your vault — yours to open, search, and edit like any other file.

Getting the most from it

A kit earns its place when it changes what you look at and what you say, not when it is installed. This is the rhythm that makes it pay.

• Put each animal on the register once — name, species, the insurer and the practice — and give Bramble the dates you know that day: the last booster, the flea and worm routine, when the insurance renews. Due and overdue is worth a glance from that moment; a blank is honest and fills as the letters arrive.
• Say a care event the way you'd say it to whoever is holding the lead — "Milo had his booster, £48", "gave Pip her flea drops", "the vet weighed him at 28.2" — and Pet capture files it against the right animal with the next one due. With two on the register, name which; if you don't, Bramble asks rather than guessing.
• Read Due and overdue on Monday morning, after the Care sweep has been through your email. Amber at thirty days is the honest signal — it is drawn from the record, so a date nobody stated is never on it — and it is the panel to check before the kennels or cattery ask for proof.
• Mention what you notice in passing — "she's been limping since Tuesday", "he's off his food" — and it lands on the record dated, in your words. Noticed lately shows it beside anything noted before; Bramble never says what it might be, only that it is worth taking to the vet.
• Before an appointment, ask Bramble for the brief. It comes back with the recent weights and their direction, everything noticed since the last visit, the current treatments, what is outstanding and the questions worth asking — facts to take in, never conclusions.
• Forward the practice's invoice or the insurer's payout email and the record moves from the document, not from memory: the cost, the claim, the date the next booster is due. That is the correction that keeps the board true.

Nothing here is fixed. The pieces are ordinary agents, routines, records and dashboards, so anything you know about shaping those applies. Retire whatever earns nothing.

Things people usually change first

• What you call each animal — the name on the register is the word Bramble uses back.
• When the Monday sweep runs, or turning it off and keeping the record by hand.
• The practice, the insurer and the pharmacy you use, so the sweep searches for them by name.
• Whether you want the monthly card at all — or just the board.
• The register itself is yours to edit: a new insurer, a new practice, a microchip number found on the paperwork.

Your first run

Installing starts a short setup conversation — not a form. Answer roughly, correct later.

1. Installing ends with "Meet Bramble" — a short conversation, not a form. It starts with who is in the house: each animal in turn — what you call them, what they are, roughly when they were born, the microchip if you have it to hand, the insurer and when it renews, the practice you use. Each goes on the register as you speak, and a blank stays blank.
2. Then, lightly, where each animal stands — the last booster and when the next is due, the flea and worm routine, the last check-up, the last weight — each one a row on the record. Anything you don't know is simply left; nothing chases it.
3. Nothing in that conversation touches your email. The Care sweep is what reads it — every Monday, for what the practice, the insurer and the pet pharmacy have sent about each animal — and it asks for email access the first time it runs, from its own screen, where the ask makes sense.
4. Skip the conversation and the door quietly stays open: until an animal is on the register, the kit page, the board and Bramble's chat keep the offer ready, and the Monday sweep leaves one card inviting you in rather than searching for nothing. The first animal, however it arrives, closes it.
5. The first sweep with an animal on the register looks back a year — filing the boosters, treatments, visits and invoices it can be sure of against the right animal, moving a renewal only when a policy document prints the date, and drawing Due and overdue, Weight per animal and Noticed lately. After that it scans only what is new, and says something only when a date is within thirty days, a document moved one, or an email could not be matched. On the first of the month, Care check sends one card per animal.
