Weight & Body

Say a number in the morning and watch the trend, not the noise.

Say a number in the morning and watch the trend, not the noise. A single weigh-in tells you almost nothing — the useful picture is the smoothed line, the rate you are actually moving at, and whether that gets you where you said you wanted to be, by when. This keeps all three, from a number you mention in passing. Body fat and muscle mass from a smart scale, and the tape if you use one, go on the same line, and a progress photo you hand over is filed by date without a word said about it. Once a week your training and what you ate sit beside the line, from those Kits' own records if you keep them, and when the line reaches your goal or its date comes round, the Sunday read says so and asks what you want next. It does not score you, it does not have opinions about your body, and a week off is a week off.

How it works

The mechanics of this kit, plainly — what runs and when, where the data lands, and what you look at.

  • Body sync runs every day · 7am and keeps the Weight & Body dashboard fresh. Daily — pulls readings from a connected scale, if you have one.
  • Weekly read runs sundays · 8am and keeps the Weight & Body dashboard fresh. Sundays — the smoothed line, the rate, and where it gets you.
  • What is captured lands in the Body log dataset, which lives at Data/Body Log in your vault — yours to open, search, and edit like any other file.
  • What is captured lands in the Body goal dataset, which lives at Data/Body Goal in your vault — yours to open, search, and edit like any other file.
  • The Weight & Body dashboard reads from the dataset and shows, at a glance: trend and trajectory · weekly change · weigh-ins · body fat, muscle and measurements · beside training and food · days you logged · how this board works.

The wiring, in one breath: Weigh-in capture writes to Body log · Goal setting writes to Body goal · Body log shown by Weight & Body · Body goal shown by Weight & Body · Weight & Body kept fresh by Weekly read · Weigh-in capture given to Trace · Goal setting given to Trace · Trace runs Body sync · Progress photos writes to Body log · Progress photos given to Trace.

Getting the most from it

A kit earns its place when it changes what you look at and what you say, not when it is installed. This is the rhythm that makes it pay.

  • Say a number in the morning, or let a connected scale sync it. That is the whole interaction — never convert units yourself.
  • Read the trend line on Sundays after the weekly read, not the daily number. A single weigh-in tells you almost nothing.
  • Set a goal with a date if you want one, or none at all. The trajectory gains a target only if you choose one.
  • Mention context in passing — travel, illness, a heavy week — so a blip on the line has its explanation beside it.
  • Ask Trace what the rate is and where it gets you by when. That is the question the board is built to answer.
  • Say body fat and muscle mass with the weight when your scale gives them ("84.2, 22.4% fat, muscle 61"), and the tape whenever you measure. They go on the same line, and Body fat, muscle and measurements shows the latest of each with its change over about eight weeks.
  • Hand Trace a progress photo when you take one. It is filed by date under Body/Progress photos/ in your vault and nothing is said about it; open two dates side by side yourself when you want to see the change.
  • If you keep Training & Recovery, Strength & Lifting or Nutrition & Macros, read Beside training and food after the Sunday read: the week's weight beside the week's sessions and calories, as figures, with nothing read into them.
  • When the line reaches your goal, or the date you set comes round, the Sunday card says so and asks what you want next: keep it, a new target or date, or no goal at all. Ask Trace how it is going and it says the same.

Make it yours

Nothing here is fixed. The pieces are ordinary agents, routines, datasets and dashboards, so anything you know about shaping those applies. Retire whatever earns nothing.

Things people usually change first

Say any of these in chat, or edit them on the kit’s page in the app.

  • The goal and the date, or removing the goal entirely.
  • When the Sunday read arrives, or turning it off and just keeping the board.
  • Whether it tracks measurements as well as weight.
  • How much it says back when you log a number — most people want a word, or nothing.
  • What comes after the goal: the same line to hold, a new target or date, or no goal at all.

Your first run

Installing starts a short setup conversation — not a form. Answer roughly, correct later.

  1. Installing ends with "Meet Trace" — a short conversation, not a form: your units, today's number if you have it, and where you'd like to be heading — or no goal at all, which is a perfectly good answer and is never asked about again. It never asks why.
  2. From then on there is nothing to open. Say "84.2 this morning" in any conversation and it goes on the log; the picture is always the smoothed line, never the last reading, so one heavy morning does not read as a setback.
  3. Skip the conversation and the door quietly stays open: until the first number is on the log, the kit page, the board and Trace's chat keep the offer ready — and the Sunday read stays silent rather than reading an empty log.
  4. If you have a connected health account it will pull weigh-ins for you; if you have not, chat alone works exactly as well and it will not pester you to connect one.

Watch the first pass, then tell it what you would have done differently — that correction teaches it more than any setup could.
