Goals & Coaching

Somewhere between the year you meant to have and the weeks you get, the goals go quiet. This is a coach in your corner.

Somewhere between the year you meant to have and the weeks you actually get, the goals go quiet. This is a coach in your corner. It begins with a proper life audit — every area of your life offered to you one panel at a time, so nothing depends on what happens to be front of mind — and the goals that survive it are written in your own words, no more than three in focus at once. Mention in passing that you passed the exam or shipped the thing and it counts. Every Monday morning, one steady question: what would move this forward? It never rewrites a goal, never scores you, and never uses the language of discipline or being behind — retiring a goal with honour is a normal thing to do here.

How it works

The mechanics of this kit, plainly — what runs and when, where the data lands, and what you look at.

  • Monday check-in runs mondays · 8am and keeps the Direction dashboard fresh. Monday morning — what moved, what is stuck, one coaching question.
  • Quarterly reset runs quarterly · 1 jan, apr, jul, oct · 9am and keeps the Direction dashboard fresh. The first morning of the quarter — the longer look: re-rank, retire with honour, refocus.
  • What is captured lands in the Life audit record, which lives at Data/Life Audit in your vault — yours to open, search, and edit like any other file.
  • What is captured lands in the Goal register record, which lives at Data/Goal Register in your vault — yours to open, search, and edit like any other file.
  • What is captured lands in the Progress log record, which lives at Data/Goal Progress in your vault — yours to open, search, and edit like any other file.
  • The Direction dashboard reads from the record and shows, at a glance: this quarter’s focus · goals on the register · where they stand · where the movement has gone · moves, month by month · when each goal last moved · the agreed next steps · the quarter in a sentence · the goals · every move.

The wiring, in one breath: Hazel runs Life audit · Life audit keeps its place in Life audit · Life audit drafted into Goal register · Goal register shown by Direction · Direction kept fresh by Monday check-in · Monday check-in joined each quarter by Quarterly reset · Quarterly reset reads Progress log · Progress log fed by Progress capture.

Getting the most from it

A kit earns its place when it changes what you look at and what you say, not when it is installed. This is the rhythm that makes it pay.

  • Do the life audit in sittings and choose no more than three goals to put in focus. The board is built around those three.
  • Say progress in passing — "ran 12k", "had the coffee" — and Progress capture logs it against the right goal. Do not report; just mention.
  • Read Direction on Monday after the check-in. The momentum list, quietest first, is the honest read; when there is a card, it carries one question — answer it in chat with Hazel.
  • Use Hazel for the question, not the answer. "What is in the way" gets you further than "what should I do".
  • Take the quarterly reset as a conversation: retire with honour, refocus, redefine — in your words. Nothing changes until you say so.

Make it yours

Nothing here is fixed. The pieces are ordinary agents, routines, records and dashboards, so anything you know about shaping those applies. Retire whatever earns nothing.

Things people usually change first

Say any of these in chat, or edit them on the kit’s page in the app.

  • Which goals are in focus, and how many — three is the cap Hazel holds, once, and then it is your call.
  • The areas of life the audit offers — a faith, a move abroad, a child on the way can be added as their own.
  • What time the Monday check-in runs, whether it leaves cards at all, or turning it off and just keeping the board.
  • How long a goal may go quiet before the check-in asks about it — three weeks is the default.
  • Whether Hazel may read your mood log or habit log for context — and that it never reports a mood back as a judgement.

Your first run

Installing starts a short setup conversation — not a form. Answer roughly, correct later.

  1. It opens with a conversation, not a form and not an empty board. Hazel — the coach who keeps this kit — offers the whole territory of your life a few areas at a time as tap-to-answer panels: career and work, money, health and body, relationships, growth and learning, play and rest, home and surroundings, purpose and contribution. Pick the ones where something feels off or where you have an ambition; none is a fine answer.
  2. For each area you open, Hazel slows down and asks properly: how it is now in your own judgement, what a ten out of ten would look like, and the one thing that would move it. If there is a goal in what you say, you say it as a goal — one sentence, yours — and it lands on the register as you speak. Nothing is scored, and nothing is turned into a plan you did not write.
  3. At most three goals go into focus for the quarter. Hazel says once why the cap exists, then does exactly what you choose.
  4. You can stop at any point. The audit knows which areas are covered and which are still open — and while any remain, the kit’s page, its board and a fresh chat with Hazel quietly offer to continue, so weeks later one tap resumes exactly where you were. Nothing nags; the offer just stays.
  5. From then on it is conversational: say in the middle of anything that you ran twelve kilometres, had the coffee, sent the message, and it counts against the right goal. Milestones and anything that looks like a goal reached are confirmed with you first.
  6. Every Monday at eight the check-in reads the register, redraws the board, and — only if a goal in focus has gone quiet or a next step needs agreeing — leaves one card: what moved, what is stuck, one coaching question. When every focus goal moved last week, it says nothing. On the first morning of each quarter, the reset writes the quarter in a sentence and proposes what to keep, retire with honour, or bring into focus. It proposes only; nothing changes until you say so.
  7. Nothing here reads your email, calendar or anything outside 1Presence, ever.

Watch the first pass, then tell it what you would have done differently — that correction teaches it more than any setup could.
