How it works

The mechanics of this kit, plainly — what runs and when, where the data lands, and what you look at.

• Scout run runs fridays · 5pm and keeps the Reading dashboard fresh. Weekly — a considered handful worth your evening, queued for you.
• What is captured lands in the Reading list record, which lives at Data/Reading List in your vault — yours to open, search, and edit like any other file.
• The Reading dashboard reads from the record and shows, at a glance: on the list · finished this year · where things stand · where the good ones come from · reading now · scout's latest · the list.

Make it yours

Nothing here is fixed. The pieces are ordinary agents, routines, records and dashboards, so anything you know about shaping those applies. Retire whatever earns nothing.

Say any of these in chat, or edit them on the kit’s page in the app.

• How many items a week the scout brings back.
• Which sources you trust, and which to stop bringing.
• Whether it tracks what you thought of a thing, or only that you finished it.
• When the weekly run happens.

Your first run

Installing starts a short setup conversation — not a form. Answer roughly, correct later.

1. If it doesn't yet know what you are trying to learn, its first run leaves a card asking what you are into at the moment — answer in chat and the scouting starts from there.
2. Then it brings back a first set so you can react to the taste rather than describe it.
3. Tell it what a good recommendation looks like — depth, brevity, contrarian, canonical — and how many a week is a handful rather than a firehose; it remembers.
4. Mention a book in passing and it lands on the list without you filing it.

Watch the first pass, then tell it what you would have done differently — that correction teaches it more than any setup could.
